Good morning to all, I tried to see if there was such a discussion but I didn't find it.
I would like to know if there is a more used software than others for the automotive industry.
I know I create 3.0, but I often hear about solid works and inventor.

If there is someone who already works in the automotive sector, could I give me some concrete examples?
for example among the most important companies in the industry, what software is used?

thanks to who will answer.

automotive industry is used nx, catia, solidworks. depends very much on the sectors. the more the company has money to invest and the more the tool costs. a medium company must limit itself to solidworks, creo, inventor, solidedge.

I therefore deduce that large companies in the sector such as ferrari, lamborghini, maserati etc use nx, catia, solidworks and do not create.

big brands were born when design programs were prohibitive and now they have always followed, usually company software. high-end programs were born when we were small children. creo is a new object of a few years and is certainly not the historical tool of those companies. pro-e has always been more or less like solidworks but were used in different areas.

from what you tell me it seems that I create and solidworks are fine. I know that some consulting companies working with the above mentioned brands use creo (I did an interview a few years ago).
also on the site ferrari I have seen some positions that require caia or solidworks. I don't understand anything anymore.

if I am not mistaken to the fiat they use pro/e (creo) for the powertrain (motors and transmissions) and instead unigraphics (nx) for the body shop. German and French instead I think they are practically standardized on catia v5.

depends.
automotive means hundreds of thousands of companies worldwide.
speaking in general, the great brands of automotive, for now, adopt the three: nx, catia and creo(pro-e).
then, as you descend into the supply chain, you pass from the three above to the "paper sheet".

There is also to say that, with a product that has a useful life of 5-10-20 years (we think of some engines or some platforms that were born in the 90s or just after 2000 and are still in production) , difficult that, within the large companies, the cad xyz is replaced from evening to morning.

Since I create is a new name of a product well different from the parent.... pro-e in totally parametric form is used much for simplicity and less cost than nx or catia. I now create in the direct form I do not know how much it can be appreciated than the creo parametric. These are two different worlds.
is a little like the fea modules that are used patran, nastran and similar.... of the highest level, specialized for non-linear analysis and above all evaluation to fatigue and vibration.

In fact, in large companies there is not all the smania to update and reconfigure servers and workstations....be aware that in pakaging, there are still now companies with solidworks 2004 installed and do not want to give up, otherwise vien down the management that had been done specially.

here had already been widely posted the situationhttp://www.cad3d.it/forum1/threads/7628-catia-vs-unigraphics/page3
the facts are slightly different. on pure cad (red those using nx):gm (all brands use + opel + saab). vehicle nx, pwt nxToyota. vehicle v5/togo, pwt proe
ford (ford uses + europe + volvo). V5/ideas (slow abandonment), pwt v5/ideas (slow abandonment)Nissan. vehicle nx, pwt nx
Mazda. vehicle nx, pwt nx
vw/aud. vicolo v5, pwt proe
Renault. v5, pwt v5
peugeot. veicolo v5, pwt proefiat. vehicle nx, pwt nxhonda. veicolo v5, pwt in5/proeSuzuki. vehicle nx, pwt nxhyunday/kia: vehicle v5, pwt proe
land rover. v5 vehicle (sigh...:frown::frown: ), pwt (do not develop engines)

... then there is the unknown of Chinese/Indian builders who have not yet made radical choices. . .

the recent history of change cad says that:
ford went on v5
toy went on v5
Nissan went on nx
Mazda went on nx

kissing hands
more daimler who went on nx and maybe others in the near future
