Hello everyone, is it possible in ansys to rename an area after creating it?
For example, the area is created automatically with number 200. I would like to assign you the 46(not already assigned to any other area). .

I managed with the following sequence of commands:

/prep7
a=200!number of the area to change
b=46!
♪
numstr,area,b
?
aele, a, ,1
nummrg,all,low

is there alternatively a single command or other solution to solve this problem?

I don't think I remember there's a single command. Your sequence is okay.
a question: why change the area number?
then you're going to re-select using the number?
One thing of this kind works but it is often dangerous, because every slight change to the model is likely to send to that country the numbers.
much wiser instead select areas, lines, keypoints and other using the location.

in practice I am making a structural optimization by interfaceing matlab and ansys.
matlab always needs to find the same numbering of areas in areas to change of the ansys model for each intervention it does. so when I go to divide an area into two the first area(advertising modified area) must have the new number, the second (unmodified area portion) the old number. then I reassign the proper real constants, mesho and solve.

how can I select an area using the location?
because at the moment I save the mass center of the two portions of area in a climb, I compare them with a cycle *if and so I understand which is before and which then and on which to intervene. .
