Hello, everyone.
would someone be so kind to explain to me step by step how to insert custom symbols?
I have 2d drawings containing graphic symbols and I would like to import them so that I have them available as a custom symbol (now I have to open the drawing and paste the symbol from one design to another, but of course it is a long passage as it refreshes the views every time it is glued).
I use nx8 and we are centralized on the network with teamcenter.
thanks to all

ti allego il testo che mi ha inviato il gtac per una mia chiamata relativa al diverso utilizzo nelle varie versioni di nx dei custom symbol

i have found the custom symbols work differently in nx5 and nx7.5.
beginning with nx 7.5, the nx custom symbol functionality has been redesigned to allow for more robust and reusable custom symbols in drafting and pmi.

your current (nx5) symbol library is located in:
n:\settings\nx\nx5\nx5custom\symbol

there should be a symbol_library.txt file in this folder. in this file the libraries and the files are listed.

! legend:
! first column: lib/sym designation. this designator describes whether
! the database entry is for a library or a symbol.
! second column: (symbols only) this column describes the name for the
! part file definition for a symbol and the bitmap which
! represents the symbol in the unigraphics user interface.
! third column: this name (in quotes) is the text string which appears
! in the unigraphics user interface to identify the symbol.

lib "nx symbols"
sym symbol_3rdang "third angle projection"
sym symbol_1stang "first angle projection"
...

there are two main "steps" to install the custom symbol libraries into the
native nx 7.5 reuse library. the first "step" is to expand/install the
symbol libraries you wish to use, the second "step" is to configure nx to
use the custom symbols.

to expand/install the custom symbol library, follow these steps;

(1) unzip $ugii_base_dir\ugii\symbol\install_tool\tool.zip
(2) double click 'custom_symbol-installation.bat' to start the installation.
(3) select the language, currently english and chinese are supported.
(4) agree to the copyright notice by checking the check box.
(5) select "native mode" for the installation environment.
(6) specify the install path of nx
(7) configure library by choosing the zip file containing the symbols to be
installed.
(8) library folder structure, specify the operating system installation
path [library root folder]. this page lists all selected libraries.
(9) review all configuration information and make any needed configuration
changes.
(10) finish the installation by clicking "install"

upon completion of the installation, a log file will be generated that
contains information about this install.

this process places the symbols for the symbol library (as a zip file) in
the directory;

c:\program files\ugs\nx 7.5\ugii\symbol\install_tool

to configure the custom symbol library, follow these steps;

(1) since this installation is for native mode (no tcua), you will need
to expand the zip file,

c:\program files\ugs\nx 7.5\ugii\symbol\install_tool\customsymbols.zip

to a new folder called;

c:\program files\ugs\custom symbols

(2) edit your customer defaults in nx by selecting...

gateway-> reuse library-> symbols library<tab>

entered the path to the directory created in (1) with the format;

custom symbols|c:\program files\ugs\custom symbols

(3) restarted nx to make the changes in (2) take effect... now you can
see the custom symbols in drafting.

please also see the user_guide_for_custom_symbol_library_installation_tool_v2.1.doc

quest'ultimo file lo puoi trovare nella cartella .......ugii\symbol\install_tool

non è una procedura semplice ma seguendo passo passo le istruzioni si riesce a fare.</tab>

Great, thank you!
next week I try to put them in and then I let them know if I did. Thank you. :finger:

I attach the text that sent me the gtac for my call related to the different use in the various nx versions of custom symbols
......
I'm sorry, but you gave a procedure that he doesn't do anything.
You described a procedure for those who work natively, he's under tc.
to see the symbols, must import them under tc.

So how should I do that? I drawing with the drawn components already have it on tc, named "symboli".
I should upload them from here and insert them as a custom symbol so that you can use them all individually.

Sorry I'm late. I didn't see this post.

I inserted all the text of the call that I actually needed to install native symbols. in the specified word file you will find all information also for installation in tc.
