intersection objects and other with inventor

I am learning inventor (I have version 2008). I hope you can help me.

1) Object intersection: how can one extract an object from another?

2) I cannot measure (in a set) the distance between the axles, but only between planes and edges. How do you do that?

1- in the extruding command window click on intersection
2- Measure command, stay a few seconds with the pointer on the round, appear two arrows, mouse wheel to select the axis
