is it possible to change the size of a derived part?

as from title, also looking for previous posts, it seems to me that you can not derive a piece and change its size and size. the quickest thing perhaps would be to copy the file and change its name and then manipulate it as you please. correct me if I'm wrong.

the derived part loses all the working tree that generated the reference part, so you can't change its measurements and size unless you overlap new ones to the derived part.
the use of derived parts to obtain others must be evaluated according to what you want to achieve.
personally, the derived part use systematically only to simplify commercials.
When I can avoid it, especially if I have to put the parts on the table, the requota required by the particular derivatives is, generally, too expensive.
even what seems to be the most practical function of the derivation, that is to get the symmetric piece, I do it only if I can not get the symmetry moving of the work on the original part.
duplicate the original part and change the odds to the copy is definitely winning, maintain the parameterization of the work and save almost always the table of a part by reuse it for the copy.

I don't think it makes sense to derive a part and then twist it.
I, contrary to stefanobruno, use very much the derived parts but only when I have to add some work, and especially when I need the change on the parent part to reflect on the derived part.

if by size you mean the general scale of the detail, you can do.
