tx dx on the frame of the view go to properties' view and activate the wireframe 3d option by adding the always visible option in the detailing pane
go to 3d and view the director.
by updating the 2d you will see the line and you can change the graphics specifications.

the automatic representation of the axis applies to cylindrical elements that are represented according to the plan of representation of the view.
this is valid even if you create a cilider as the function costs, but if the axis of the cylinder does not pass by the plane, the axis of the cylinder is not represented at the table.
so if your tubes follow a 3d track you will never see the axis eventually you will see the representation only of the axis of straight strokes.
