location folder center content

hello to everyone, I just joined the forum because it has been for over a year that I use inventor for work and, having never done courses, I had to learn alone now I acorgo that I can not improve without asking someone who knows more than me.

one of the things I've always asked myself is where is the folder from which the program takes the models of the components of the contained center, wondering why punctually when I realize a project and open it on another computer inventor asks me where to go fishing the files, and I don't understand why not do it automatically. until now I have not given weight to the thing limiting myself to display the project without commercial components (then I use mainly one pc) but where do I find those files that ask me?

Is there a way to save as part the screws and the components I pick from the contained center? Can it be saved in the same folder as the project?

1) use the search button on this forum that you find everything (it is not a new problem)
2) inventor tutorial and use the guide itself (read read)
3) setting the project file that manages folders and resources you can save everything where you want

It's good to learn by yourself, but if you deal with and solve some things badly then you bring them behind forever.
When you transfer files from one car to another, use the pack & go, so you don't miss anything.
the default storage location of the content center is:
c:\documents and settings\administrator\documenti\inventor\content center files\r2011\it
you must have the same on the pcs you use (or in the project files you have to differentiate the locations ) and you can keep it synchronized simply by copying the entire folders generated by the pack & go in the corresponding on the various machines.

for your question:
the content center is not a folder where there are files of all components, but a component generator, so when you insert a component, e.g. a screw, the cc generates it, inserts it into your set and saves the file of the generated screw in the folder c:\documenti\inventor\content center files\r2011 (or the version you have).
When you carry out a project you must also copy this folder, or rather, use the "pack&go" tool that automatically copies your project and always automatically, copy only files generated by cc that serve that project.
if by mistake delete the folder where the generated files reside, are..azzi amari (see my last post)...:smile:

there is the advantage of having all the files inherent in a commit within the same folder (the easier to make backups), at the expense of the obvious duplication of any similar c.c. files (but they weigh so little that I think it is a question that can be overcome).

If I didn't get it wrong, every time you create a new project, you take a subfolder for cc files inside the folder where you have that project and tell them to save them there instead of the default path?

It's not bad. is inventor who manages things wrong. The only thing you have is double the same business files. But working in my opinion is very well:finger: even if I am a pity for: unique folder on server with everything inside

in fact it was the first modification I made... all files c.c. in a mapped folder of the nas...
However, in this way, you are linked to the connesion to the nas/server, unless you map a virtual disk (which would conflict when you connect to the network). .
So I went to the file 3d - content center files folder under the order... cover the "files 3d" folder and you're fine to work even off-line. . .
as already said... c.c. files are so small that their multiplication is a bearable evil. . .

I just have to find the way to avoid copying the (useless) folders "oldversions"
