make transparent a .jpg image

Hello.
I imported a .jpg image in autocad 2010 and then I imported another image, the second image I want to make it transparent in order to see, overlapping them, the second image below. I clicked transparency, selected the image and then clicked on, but the image did not become transparent, as I must proceed.

jpg format does not support transparencies.
if you like monochromatic follow this quick procedure of mauro juseppe:

Otherwise, if you need the colors you have to work with photoshop (or similar). clear all white making the background transparent and use as format: png, tif or gif.

ps: of course we talk about white transparency. not colors. these cannot be made transparent.
