me10 + workmanager

I'm a 30-year-old mechanical designer.
I just signed up and needed advice.

I was just hired by a company, and I was an instructed let's say to come out of a somewhat uncomfortable situation.

I pray that I don't know me10 nor workmanager so I ask vein if I say some cabbage....

as we had some hw problem in the old server where me10 (2001) resided and workmanager, now we should migrate to a slightly more recent infrastructure and clearly not on unix servers.

Now I don't know at all how me10 worked, my first question is:
But now me10 is called cocreate drafting?
if yes.. it is possible to resume the old historian of me10 reopening them simply or do you have to do some special procedure?
being no longer in maintenance for many years, due to passage to another 3d, we would still like to resume the historian and buy new licenses.

hi, si me10 is now cocreate drafting while workmanager was replaced by model manager.
for the compatibility of the drawings there are no problems, but if you have to extract them from work managers you need a massive export procedure, especially if they are many.
this because in work managers the files are rendered "illegal" from the encryption.

I'm not sure chw wm uses encryption, it can be that files are simply stored in "binary" under unix file system.
the binary file was very efficient because compressed compared to the format mi, more bulky but compatible to "the top" (all the latest versions can open the "mi" of the previous versions), the "binary" is easily not compatible with the most recent versions.

Since you have in mind to buy me10 licenses, so much it is worth asking the supplier how to perform this migration, and also very quickly. having an encrypted archive on an old car that could break at any time is a very dangerous situation!
You had to think about it first, and avoid putting all the drawings into an inaccessible db, but on this you have no fault of course.

p.s. me10 files have *.mi extension, see if doing a search on the server jump out. In that case you have a good chance to get them out without resorting to esoteric rituals. . . .

from what I remember the work manager file server assigns names with its logic, making them indecipherable by browsing the folder that contains them (practically the pippo file, is saved by a xwkty name)
what you could decide was to do compression and encryption of the default .di file content if nothing was specified were done both

on the old wm there was a function that allowed to extract all the files obtained from a search, only that I do not remember if it was a function created by the supplier.

Anyway, I had a program that could do to your case. was a utility that worked under windows . I just have to find it because lost between the various backups .
