I would like a simple clarification on the use of merge surfaces, what is the difference between merge surfaces with itersetion, and merge surfaces join?
are 2 commands under the curtain options
I tried to use the merge in both conditions on a fin of a impeller made with the surfaces, but I can not see any difference.

union is when two surfaces touch each other, intersection is when they overlap, but it also works when they touch it is enough. If you don't find any difference, it's because there's no superfice overlapping.
