Bye to all,
I address you gurus of the molds for my problem.
in free time I devoted myself to modeling with 3ds max in low poly some characters invented. Now there is the possibility to make them plastic and I was asked the model in step or in iges. Now, the polygonal models are not nurbs, so from 3dsmax does not generate me ne iges ne step. the only export I can do is in obj, 3ds and stl but the stl generates the all-faced model.
do you know the way I can follow to get a step or an iges of my correct model?
Thank you.

Hi.

premitting that I do not know 3ds and even software that program machine tools, for the realization of the mold, a proof that I would do would be to export the sl as accurately as possible and import it directly to the molder software. if possibly not this could not be possible, a friend with pro-e or nx or any sft that amounts the sl, can try to convert it at least in igs.

I hope you can help! :

Good job

The problem is this... I use it habitually and reads the stl, but how accurate it is the model can not generate ne step

Hi.
but I don't know that with rhino
You could solve the prob
try to ask in the specific forum
Thank you very much

reverse... touch reverse.
sl is nothing but triangulation of the cloud of points.
When you insert it in pro/e as a facet feature, you must then generate surfaces in restyle environment.
to do this however you need the rex license ... something that costs like a media sedan.
If you want, and if there's no problem, you can pass the file and give me a look I can tell you if it's something that can be resolved in no time.

thank you for the availability, googlando I also found syscod plug-ins that allow to import obj on the most popular 3d cad (pro-e, solid edge, solid works) that is to be tried? Do you know them? If they work, they cost less than an average sedan:-)

The obj, if I don't remember badly, is always a triangular data, I think you don't solve the problem.

It is true, but apparently this plug-in converts every triangle to the surface and joins it, it should be so. .spero
