hi, I would need to work on a stl file that has ailments .

I would like to eliminate them and I would also like to change the surface by cutting some parts.

with the cutting plan tool I managed to select the part that interests me but I failed to get a file with the only portion that interests me.

I was able to see the series of triangles that shape the surface but I did not understand how to modify it/delete it/sculp it. . .

Can someone give directions or link some tutorials?

you could try to create a surface that closes the hole created by the cut then transform it into mesh.
But it's practically impossible to get a solid closed, so you can print it, then you have a sw that can correct the mesh by smoothing it by closing the holes.

but is it a very complex piece?
I often remodeled everything in surfaces rather than losing a life to try to correct a stl.
