Hey, guys.
I don't know if this is the right section, but do you know how to recommend a really valid nesting 2d program?
by valid I mean that it has a fairly evolved calculation engine and makes a nesting really good.

in company we mill aluminum panels with cnc type pantograph machines for wood.

Currently we use alphacam as sw of the machine (with nesting not usable) and smartcut to make nestings.
However, smartcut is good for its simplicity and practicality but has the following limits:

- it is not usable with coils of infinite length and does not recommend separate coil cutting, it is necessary to give it in input a warehouse of plates of already defined lengths.

- does not accept panels sizes to cut that are not simple rectangles

- it's fine to make quick estimates, but in production it has big limits. by hand re-elaborating the distinguished obtained you can always save a lot of material compared to what smartcut recommended.

time ago they talked to me well mastercam and his nesting, but I don't know anything about it.. .

Bye-bye

Can I ask you what kind of pieces are?
Are they predominantly rectangular or of very irregular forms?
How do you hold the pieces?

You should see a cam for the sheet metal a bit evolved and they can post you for the car you have so you go directly into the car, without doing other steps.

I had taken a look at the mastercam. because the start on the pieces was fixed therefore when he went to put the pieces on the nesting, according to how he turned the pieces had to correct all the departures.

There are some alma sigmanest lantek jetcam etc.
you just have to be careful as they were all born for cannello or laser cuts.

It also depends on what production you have to do, if there are many pieces maybe you should spend something more but that is more practical.

Hi, carlo.

Look, spending is not a problem, it is an investment for us important.
pure nesting software would also be good, without cam.

consider that in the preventive phase we do not yet have the technical drawings of the pieces, but only a list of encumbrances on excel. therefore the program should be versatile on the incoming slabs/coils formats to provide a separate cut and a % quantitative waste.

when it is time to go to production should be able to accept mixed data excel/cad to consider the panels of strange form.
the majority of panels is rectangular and simple, but then depends on the order.

a software that did what I ask is the plus2d metal, but the problem is that it is not enough to pull down any nesting, it must be valid and certainly not improveable by hand from the final operator. ...

If you want I can get in touch with a material professional who has been working for over 15 years in the nesting/cam sheet industry.
in parentheses lives in the province of Pesaro.

look at the only thing I can recommend and lose a lot of time to see it well, and see some too.
Keep in mind that a good nesting takes time, you are already lucky if you have several rectangular pieces, those are fast to position.
regarding the pieces coming from excel data sincerely I do not know if you can insert directly or you have to create the piece.
in my case they are all irregular pieces and not to miss anything, coming from graphics programs, therefore transformation into dxf and import into cam, nesting and generation nc.
I think a good program is alma, I don't know it directly but I've heard it speak well here, and I think they also sell nesting to be integrated in other cams.
made a ride on their site

ps I nesting very often, posiziono by hand is done sooner and better.
