hello to all, they are yellow davide, graduating in mechanical engineering to the polytechnic of the brands. I have to deal with my last exam and I need some straights with the catia. the purpose is to design a trolley trying to adopt special technological solutions with annexed a technical relationship, then the oral part. I will try to be as synthetic as possible. as from title I am a neophyte, I searched everywhere and all advised the manual of Mr. from the noble. manual taken after contacting the author, person of a unique and very rare exquisiteness and friendliness nowadays. in this 3d I hope to ask questions you banal but that they can also help other neophytes like me. I start from the sketcher, x-y plan, design the profile as the result of 2 semicirconferences collected, for the size I am not here to specify since other is but an exercise. in the 2d (I hope not to blaspheme) known differences with the cad of the autodesk quite important. I find the catia unclear and Moroccan, but I hope it's just a matter of practice.
I start from circumferences and cut them in semicirculations. the wreck command is not very clear to me but I can get the sketch:
I proceed with extrusion of the profile, do height 80.
proceed with emptying command to create vacuum with the base (release 1mm of material)
I now make an 80mm x-y offset and draw the traces of the first ribs. First problems come out. First of all, the x-y' plan will kill with the upper edge of the plate. Why did I do that? because I will track the ribs on the new plan otherwise the program will start with a series of mistakes and I won't be able to make them (really because of me).

hi davide, sketches can be free or with reference. you can create the basic sketch (use the arc; in general it simplifies if you can geometry) bound to the reference axes system and then binds the second sketch relative to the ribbing to the previous sketch.
when a skecth is completely bound appears, in green sketch environment.above all, is it possible to do it? If not, do I have to do it in the initial sketch?

Bye. the color of geometries in the sketch identifies conditions.
white indicates that geometry is free, i.e. it has no geometric constraints (tangencies, contacts, perpendicularity, etc.) or numerical constraints (quote).
green color indicates that geometry has constraints (geometrics and/or numerical ones)
purple color indicates that geometry has an excess of constraints.
for example if you draw a line this will be of white color. if the quoti will become long of the value you will assign (100mm for example). if the same line goes to insert a new quota and this you will edit it with different value (80mm for example), the system does not know who to give straight (100mm or 80 mm).
you gave the symmetry, and it's fine, but at the new symmetrical curve I see that there is also a offset value. catia asks you: but the curve is an offset or a symmetry?. to correct all you have to delete physically or the symmetry symbol or the assigned quaota. clikki the entity and delete it with the keystroke canc.
p.s. unlike autocad on catia system axes (yellow in the sketch) are "sensitive"; the 2 lines you created at first do not need, you could use directly the axes.
