non-functional canc key

Hello everyone, I ask you a help...I'm going crazy because I configured autocad2011 after using for years autocad2007. .I can't understand why the canc command doesn't work as a keyboard ... maybe it's a setting in the options panel.. but I can't understand which...someone has the goodness to give me advice.? thanks in advance to those who will read my post

Does it work in windows? that I know there is no way to reconfigure a button in autocad, but I might be wrong.

options -> selection board -> check name/verb selection

thanks guys, for the solution, just set the variable pickfirst = 1 from command line and I solved the problem.
I hope sooner or later I can return the favor.
