Hello, everyone! I would like to kindly ask you about the resolution of a little problem with sheet metal.

I have the case of a sheet metal silencer (formed for bending function with loft) to hexagonal section (with sides that are arcs and not straight segments) and conical pattern with various fittings made in sketch. I should add holes to insert rivets into the axieme in which I use the piece, however to bent display I cannot put them because of course they would not be extruded in the correct direction. It is therefore necessary to extend the sheet first. and here start trouble.

First of all if I have functions, any cutting function on the undisposed piece, the extension does not work. instead if I remove all the features, leaving only the bending with loft, I can stretch the piece, but then I can no longer bend it! the error message is that the selected fixed edge cannot remain straight after bending. And yet I have not changed anything to the model.. .

In any case, if I add a hole in this state, either by cutting or hole function, it appears to me that the added features do not allow to fold the piece.

I attach the images in sequence of the problem.

I hope you can help me, I would be very grateful! the main objective is the addition of holes.. .

having the side file would help you "help. "

If you don't put files with cuts, holes and what creates problems you can't understand where the problem is

I have not yet placed the holes because unfortunately the problem is upstream...I can not even extend and then bend the model with the only feature of loft sheet.
I should figure out how to fix this before I can get the right holes. However any hole or cut produced in that expanse model is not accepted when I want to fold the sheet again.

to perform drilling it is not necessary to smooth the sheet. the guided drilling tool also acts in 3d sketch environment (do not select any surface before touching the "positions" tab).
I attach some pictures and the file in 2016. be careful that the attached file is an approximation of yours.Tubo conico.webpTubo conico-spianato.webp
