non-printable diameter character in pdf

Good morning, everyone.
I have noticed that the odds that contain the diameter symbol are not printed correctly in pdf: the character is displayed in the drawing area and in the print preview but once printed in pdf is not recognized (I see a set of balls instead of all the text, not only of the diameter character). the font I used is very normal arial, which I normally use for all odds, and the quota was created using the diameter quota tool. the same problem also occurs by applying a local change to the text of a linear quota, and inserting the symbol ø (diameter) through the combination %%c. I tried on different computers and actually the problem also occurs on all others. in fact with some fonts instead the problem does not occur but, I wonder, there is no way to insert differently the symbol so that I can continue to use the font arial?
I hope I've been not too confused in the exposure of the problem!
a thank you in advance to those who will kindly help me!

I see you haven't read the forum rules either.
This time we close an eye for the beautiful sally, but only because it's san valentino, okay?

This is sgorbio was generated with arial font under autocad 2006: the red portion comes from the _dimdiameter command, while the other two by _dimlinear then edited with _ddedit.

in acad I used my favorite virtual printer, i.e. cutepdf free edition.

:)
