hi to everyone, I just started doing the graduation thesis (finally:cool:) but unfortunately I am banging my nose on ansys!
I ask you: please give me any kind of advice useful to learn how to use this program?

I don't want to be an ansys genius. I just want to understand the strict need to do my thesis! (optimum design of a composite panel)

p.p.s. ho ansys 10

thank you in advance to anyone who wants to give me your help!

ansys' help will become your best friend and worst nightmare, there you find everything you need, both the theory on which the finite element techniques used by ansys are based and the various procedures to perform analysis, then there are examples etc... I mean, you're gonna have to turn it around.

cmq seen the type of analysis you want to carry out I would recommend you to realize the geometry in ansys in a parametric way (i.e. check the names to the sizes with which you will build your model) that then you will vary with an optimization analysis. . .

if you need more tips or places more on the project maybe you do two chatter

Thanks for the answer, I'm banging my head on the tutorial, some friends have already taught me rudiments... for the moment I am not finding great difficulties; I was told that the problems will begin when I have to set the material... We'll be back when I get there!!

classic o wb?

Classic! Actually, if I have to be honest, I still haven't quite understood what the wb needs...

Hello, everyone!
I also for my graduation thesis I have to work on ansys, I just installed it but I don't know where to put hand!!! I tell you what this is about: I should study a series of wire shafts connected to each other with flanges...the model I have already made on inventor I should now open it with ansys (they told me it is possible!) and do a dynamic study (i.e. the stresses that undergoes the system as a result of rotation) and a thermal study (i.e. the stresses that undergoes the system in contact with a heat source) then join the two studies and see total deformation. Can you tell me where to start? help!! my degree passes from here! !

ansys classic is more an analysis tool and I don't think it's more useful than wb for the designer.
with wb is modeled faster even if you have to give up some things that only has classic.
These limits in some way can be overcome thanks to the sensitivity of the designer who has to be good at understanding the degree of approximation that is getting and if the model that has built (setting of loads, constraints etc.) can be conservative (for safety) or not.
the classic is much more complicated to use, in particular modeling the contact between two bodies becomes very laborious.
