number items automatically

I do not know if it is the right section of the forum, in case it is not apologize and I ask you to move the thread in the appropriate section.
My problem is the following.
in autocad 2010 or 2011 I have to draw a large number of objects all the same to which, however, I need to assign a growing number.
as they are several hundred I would like to know if there is a way to do this operation automatically; a sort of series in which each element is numbered.

I thank you in advance for the answer and ask for my ignorance in this matter.

insertc + blockc - insert new (or renumber existing) blocks with incrementing numbers in attributes (incremental numbering, counter)
