exactly.
nx had no possibility to use the "conic" option in the blended hege... so we were forced to make so many face blends.
is not the perfect solution: I would have wanted a connection in g2, not a "conical". . .
but the "perfect" solution cost 80 and the "simple" solution (conic) instead 1.
They had no problem deciding.
Sure, you want to put 1 euro against 80??? ... there is no story:biggrin:

Hey, guys.
I returned from the holidays on the 5th and climbed on a plane to detroit.
I read you every now and then, but I really have little time to interact.
I have not yet installed the last nx8, the official one (vergogna!!! peste colga! :frown:), so I do not know what level is the documentation.
I watched a bit in the videos of the nx8 I had, but I found only material on the following novelties of this new version:
- copy/paste feature (there is a new leash for reparenting)
- thicken sheet with check-mate integration to see failed areas
- optimize curves (function dear to procatug :finger:)
- sync link (wave link sync mode... also this function dear to procatug, already introduced in advance in 7.5.3)
- wave link of threaded attributes and holes (finally!)
- conical edge blend (thank you!)
- wide selection of entities from part navigator
- the new variant pattern
- the part module (interesting technology to break complex models in + users... useful for motors for example.... available, I think, starting from nx8.0.1

Hi. .
Hi, is it a problem to put these videos on the scratch ftp to download?
promise us more videos....this version is full of news.

sorry for late.

i love nx...

la 8...
hi my friend.
how are you?
hope it's all right...

yes, we're just presenting the nx8 and we'll be ready for another big version next year: 8.5 (i hate this way to name our product... but it's a marketing choice...).
expect many breakthrough in the next couple of years.

hi beppe,

They did a good job anyway. the options of the blend that I have seen (which are not as scarce as those of pro\e....) allow you to do beautiful things.

I wouldn't have done it with a face blend, if not in particular cases.

well fine!
and you?
it's a pleasure to hear again you!
unfortunately i use always catià ....but i hope go back to ug before or after :finger:

Why unfortunately? ! ?

you have interpreted right, I have been 'fruitful' for years on stà v5  while others move forward. ..benedetta crisi e compagniafagioli...

see, this is what i mean by rumors!!!!!

no, nx 7.5 was a special situation which i hope never happens again, period.

Unfortunately for the bvj (good old John) it is not true.
at least for 8.5 will be like this.
Oh, my God, even the mktg can change his mind, and blow it up, giving him the name nx9... who knows?

ps. the nx8 will not be like the nx7, that is a crappy release to avoid like the plague... will be a major to all effects, while the nx8.5, while being also a major (so incompatible backwards with 8) will have more than other new modules, like the cpd. period. ahahha:biggrin:

nx 8 supported platforms - windows

august 2011

this document outlines the supported operating systems (windows) for nx8.

overview

customers moving to windows 7 must run nx 64-bit, as splm is not certifying
nx 32-bit on windows 7. the increased memory requirements of windows 7
make 64-bit the only logical choice. for windows 7 the only nx choice is
nx-64/windows 7-64.

support for windows vista on nx8 will be limited in order to allow splm to
exploit the full benefits of windows 7. although windows vista should
work, splm is no longer testing or certifying windows vista. there are no
plans to certify any new hardware on windows vista.

splm will support windows xp (both 32-bt and 64-bit versions) running nx8
but it will be conditionally based on available support provided by
microsoft as windows xp reaches its end of life and the availability of 3rd
party software and drivers. this support is to allow customers enough time
to migrate to windows 7 or alternatives like linux or macos. the nx
windows development, testing and certification platform going forward is
windows 7 64-bit. there will be no new hardware certification testing on
windows xp starting with nx8.

windows 7 details

• windows 7 64-bit is the recommended windows platform for nx8. there
is no 32-bit nx support for windows 7. the memory limitations of a
32-bit have been forcing splm customers to 64-bits as operations
systems, applications and data models continue to grow. splm cannot
emphasis the importance of customers moving to windows 7 64-bit.

• the server version of w7 (server 2008r2) is 64-bit only.

• workstations and mobile laptops already come with 64-bit versions of
w7 as standard. many consumer systems ship with the 64-bit home
version.

• splm has found that w7 requires significantly more memory when
compared to wxp. independent customer testing as well as testing
performed by our oem partners confirmed this. the recommended memory
requirement for nx on w7 is 6gb, which necessitates windows 7 64-bits.

windows vista

• with the success of windows 7, splm is not only moving its development
environment to windows 7 but also has begun taking advantage of new
and exciting windows 7 features. therefore, splm cannot guarantee
compatibility of nx8 on windows vista.

• windows vista support is limited to the extent that splm can duplicate
reported problems on windows 7. there is no new hardware
certification testing planned for windows vista. all windows
certification and testing is migrating to windows 7 64-bit only.

• windows vista users should consider moving to windows 7.

windows xp

• windows xp has reached its logical end of life. microsoft mainstream
support actually ended in april of 2009 with optional paid support
ending by april 2014. unless customers purchased extended support
from microsoft within 90 days, they no longer can purchase support.
splm support for windows xp is limited to the extent that splm can
duplicate problems on windows 7. therefore, windows xp specific
issues may not be resolved.

• at such time, that splm can no longer get updates, patches or drivers
from microsoft or 3rd party hardware/software partners, splm will
drop all support for wxp. it is anticipated that this will occur
during the lifecycle of nx8 therefore not all “dot” releases of nx8
will be supported.

• there will be no new windows xp related hardware certification
starting with nx8 and therefore it is recommended customer move
to windows 7 64-bit.

general faq’s

q1: which version of nx will be the last to support wxp?
a1: nx 8 is the last version to support wxp but this support is
conditional since windows xp is at its logical end of life.

q2: why is support conditional?
a2: mainstream microsoft support for windows xp actually ended in
april 2009 so even today there is limited ability to provide
fixes to windows xp. there are many issues supporting an
operating system that has reached its eol including the ability to
get support from 3rd party vendors. since splm has no control
over these vendors, our ability to get fixes, updates and most
importantly drivers is a serious concern.

q3: is there any chance of also getting nx 9 to be supported with
windows xp?
a3: no.

q4: why will we not support 32-bit nx on windows 7?
a4: the requirements of windows 7, as well as high-end applications
like nx, dictate 64-bits. the recommendation today for windows 7
and nx7.5 is 6gb.

q5: what changed in windows 7 that required so much more memory?
a5: it is difficult to discuss the differences in this document but it
has been well documented that windows 7 requires considerable more
resources (disk, memory and processor).

q6: i heard that 64-bits has problems and is not reliable.
a6: when windows xp 64-bit first came out years ago, there were some
problems but they have been resolved long ago. splm would
not move our development environment to windows 7 64-bit if we
had any reservations on its performance or quality.

q7: i understand that running on 64-bit os is slower compared to
32-bits.
a7: what will be slow is running nx on a 32-bit system that is under
configured with too little memory. the memory limitation on
32-bits is 4gb with applications only able to address
approximately 3gb.

q8: why is vista not supported anymore?
a8: although vista and w7 started with the same kernel, there are
differences and the future is w7. therefore, splm is no longer
testing or certifying versions of nx on vista.

q9: what happens if i decide to run nx8 on vista, will i be supported?
a9: splm expects vista will work and you may never have any problems
but there is always some risk. nx8 issues will be tested on
windows 7 systems. if there is a failure running vista that
cannot be duplicated on windows 7 it will then be assumed the
problem is vista related and may not be fixed.

q10: what happens if i decide to run nx8 on wxp, how will i be
supported?
a10: splm has tested windows xp as part of the normal development
release cycle just as windows 7 is tested, but there is always
a risk that problems may develop that cannot be fixed.

q11: why might windows xp bugs not be fixed?
a11: as noted before, microsoft mainstream support actually ended in
april of 2009. many 3rd party vendors have begun to drop support
and splm may not be able to get access to fixes, updates or
driver needed to fix bugs. hardware vendors can no longer
provide wxp as part of their systems and in time, it will become
difficult if not impossible to get proper drivers.

q12: will wxp be support throughout the life of nx8?
a12: since an nx product release cycle normally covers several years
there is no way to guarantee that splm will be able to support
throughout the entire cycle.

q13: why is splm no longer certifying hardware on windows xp?
a13: as of october 2010 windows xp cannot be purchased anymore. in
addition, there are no retail sales and hardware vendors cannot
pre-install windows xp. vendors may or may not provide drivers
for new hardware so any installation of windows xp on new hardware
would require a custom installation. without a standard vendor
provided and supported installation, certification is impossible.

during an activity I just verified that a part did not regenerate on wxp 32.. .
put on w7 64 was ok.
r&d response: It's a fault problem on a double we'll fix... used w7 64.
