Do you have any material about bending in open sections? is behavior similar to the closed section case or are there substantial differences?

according to the de saint venant theory there are no differences. This theory neglects the local effects of loading.

the bending originates tensions of traction, compression and cutting. in these types of stress a closed section behaves exactly as an open one.

the differences are in the case of torsion.
