opening solid3d files and converting files

Good morning.
I presented myself this morning in the special section.
I wanted to ask something maybe even banaei. (premitted solidworks license is only on fixed pc at work)
exists a software that allows me to carry out with 3d modeling and then pass it on solidworks? I explain better: practically I would like to carry on with some drawings at home, since solidworks is not at my economic reach I thought of solid edge and here I immediately wondered, if I start a design on solid edge I can convert it on solidworks and vice versa? in case in which file format should I export it?
solid edge I would also use it personally maybe as free lancer later and the basic version costs much less, although, being also for work use my employer is willing (if it goes well) to buy my license himself.

when I collaborated with a salesman, from what I remember, there was no substantial price difference between the two software. some sales have been lost for the reason against what you say. I don't know what the situation is now. I'm telling you six years ago. Maybe if you have a basic package, drafting modeling and asasembly that sw does not have.
then, the two software 'parlano' through neutral files in parasolid format (kernel common to both) then the files you exchange do not have the features.

I'm sorry you mean the files you trade don't have the features? practically some changes that I supply from one of the two programs can be that it is not executed in the other software?
 
a neutral format is a file that only contains geometry and not the history of functions.
neutral formats are parasolid, step, acis, iges, stl; the most reliable are in my opinion parasolid and step.
also opening a solidedge file you do not have the history of functions. However, it is possible, after a certain version to open native files of other software maintaining its connection so that by modifying the native file you can update that of solidworks.
