I was wondering if there is a command contrary to "extreme".
instead of extending a surface, to shorten it.
Is there a way to automatically extract the central line of a complex surface?

exists in the free style environment the extended command that can also shorten the surface (with limits)

instead in shape if I have to shorten it of a precise value, I use the parallel curve command: select the edge, create the parallel curve and then cut with that.

but how does the system understand how you want it oriented? at the most you can insert a point in the center of the surface and then with the isoparametric curve select the point and hide the curve.

I don't have the program in front of me.
1) select the edge from which you want to start the isoparametric;
2) curve point, 0.5 of curve length
3) isoparametric , surface , point . for the direction , select the box in the command , button dx , select x, y or z depending on which direction is "prevalent".

Of course it's "central" meant half the length, it's not said it's always what it takes.
