Unfortunately I think you're right....I do not doubt that it works well with swx but clearly with proe is better.
it is not the case of starting a flame, just try proe with some instruction to understand that in topdown it has more. the difference basically is this:it is too hot to start a flame; Is it okay if we get back in the fall?. .
swx has a very "free" work scheme and leaves the user a way to get rid of various methods (sometimes not correct) but there is no "official" methodology on how to exploit the topdown. in proe the road of the top down is not to be invented with workarounds, it is already tracked by ptc and there are special functions in order to manage the various phases of design in topdown. These functions have been present for countless years and in the midranges still pretend that you can't do it, some I asked a lot of times before I saw for the first time proe. In addition, external references are (in my opinion) managed a little differently and this gives a little more stability in case of change.
said that the work is done with both, with swx I made assemblings in top down really challenging (and not yet with proe) and I always managed them well. using skeletons I have always managed to create very stable parametric models, but I can assure you that it goes a bit beyond it.
make a demo of proes with aax, so you will realize yourself what I'm talking about.
