part or together

Good morning
I press that I'm still a beginner in nx, and I wanted you to take away my new doubt.
using the "wave geometry linker" command I noticed that it can be used both with a set and with a part, I also noticed that I can insert parts inside a single part as if it were a set.
both have the same extension.
At this point I wonder where is the substantial difference between a set and a part?

the wave can only be used together, the analog command in the part is extract geometry.
no difference between part and together as no difference between part and part, if you take a set and delete all the components, return a part, drafting and sheet metal, the extension prt is the same. flexibility and the soundness of the software are exceptional.
What's the difference between solid and surface? between curve and edge? No...? What's the problem?

Thanks for the answer, unfortunately I come from creo parametric that I use for 10 years where the difference between part and together is clear and certain settings especially mental lead you to have doubts.
However now it is clearer.
