part that performs function when inserted

Bye to all,

I'm wondering if there is (and I'm sure there is) a way to get a screw to make a hole (for itself) in a part where it is inserted into a set.
in my case: I do a part by extruding a rectangle; I do a part by extruding another rectangle (larger); I do a set in which I insert the two parts with the first part that competes in the second.
I would like the rectangle-shaped hole to be formed with the size of the first rectangle... in solid top you can create a parametric element of library.
I'm just as sure that you can!
the example is to make a hole for a door in the wall that welcomes it!

Thank you so much!

Well... to make holes for screws you can use series opp holes. creation wizard holes, then put the screws with smart fasteners opp. from toolbox.
If you want to put screws and automatically create holes, you need a third party program that integrates with sw.

to do the subtraction of two solids you can use the cavity command or divide that you can find under the menu: insert/stamps.. .

I hope I helped you.

Now I understand what you mean...

You have to use the smart components, start doing the tutorial then do a lot of tests by reading the online guide. at the beginning there's a bit to get out, but then it comes out, I did like this:wink:
you can associate functions like an extruded cut to the door frame and when you insert it into the wall it creates the hole automatically.

Perfect!
Thank you!

Done!
Very good!

but there is a way to start the function without having to tell it all the times that the component is placed in a set?

Thank you again!

Sorry, but after all this sparkling wine, it might lie down to understand,
you may want to say "book function"
practically you create a generic extrusion and to this apply a hole that should be your door, save everything as "book function" at that point when you have to make such a hole, take this function and apply it on a part, not on a set and you are recreated the hole.
It's a function you need to try a moment to understand it, but then you do very quickly to apply certain functions.
search for "book function" and have a little fun a year and it just started

wishes to all

Hi.

It might be so, but the ideal is what explained to me by andreal.
I did the smart component as explained in driving and placing it on another part in a set (which is what I want), in the right button when you select it is also present the voice that activates the defined function in the smart comp.
the fact is that you always have to click on the right button and choose to activate the function... is that you positions and then automatically activate the function that should actually... Since you created it is working, why do you also have to activate it?

That's all!

Hi.
because otherwise if you have to insert that component without applying the functions you cannot + do it.

it would be useful to have a flag somewhere that sets the default application or not of the function.
That's right!

Anyway, that's great.
Thank you all!
