I have patran 2004, I am doing an exercise on the piston as from first class course pat301.

when launching the analysis does not create the piston file.xdb

but must also be installed nastran?
or is it a patch problem?

full run

part analysis manager that gives me "failed" to job status

must be installed nastran.
Patran is a pre-post and nastran is the solutor. If you don't have nastran, you can't fix it.

My own problem. use for a few days patran. imposed everything correctly, from geometry to mesh, imposition loads/wines, run of analysis, but does not create the output file, whether it is .xdb or .op2!!
from where the nastran sect as a solutor? And yet I think it's already inserted as it doesn't give me particular error messages.. .

mail your xxx.bdf or xxx.dat file (you find it in the working directory of patran) and we take a look at

today I finally managed to get the output file, opening the bdf from another directory (directly from msc.nastran)....
How do you set the nastran template on patran though? would be more convenient to launch it from analysis.. .

I always launch separate nastran.
then load the op2 from patran

configured patran when you installed it, defining the installation of nastran?

otherwise under software->msc.software -> patran find configuration utility in which you find how to set the solutor, even not nastran. Of course you also need to have the nastran license if you have to use it.
