Hello.
I have been reading your forum for a while and I have to say that I have been able to clarify my doubts.
I realized a structure with the structural member function, using a square profile from me realized. I have only one doubt: when I realize the edges at 45 degrees between two profiles, does the welding work directly? in the sense that if I want to do an analysis with cosmos that angle is analyzed as if there was a welding or just a coupling? I believe, at least from the tutorial, that he already considers a welding.

second question: I made a frame always square section; on this frame I have to put a sort of pipe (always in steel) that will serve as housing of a transmission brazil for a rotation. I made tube and frame in two distinct parts and then joined them together. However I cannot put a welding between the flat part of the frame and the side part of the tube. Is there a way to do it or not? in case it is not possible, how can I circumvent the obstacle, I guess that then cmq I will have to make a simulation with cosmos?

thanks in advance!

when I have to do an analysis to the finished elements, the welds do not put them because they are all elements that must be meshati... If you go to study a chassis the simulation becomes very heavy. You should use a software that allows you to put mesh where you need it, but in any case I would find it counterproductive.
I would advise you to study the structure without welds considering that at the joints you will have to consider a limit effort about 25% lower.
another speech, however, is whether it studies only two elemnts at a time welded each other, in this case also consider welding leads to more precise results.

In reality it is an object composed of several frames, all built with the structural elment function and each in its part file. the only two welds present are in correspondence of the tube I had written. The only thing I can't do is a welding between the round part of the tube and the flat prte of the profile. not wanting to use a welding as I can do?

I think you should mate the two moles in a set and then do the fem analysis on the latter. I think by imposing a global connection, it should be fine.

I'll try to do this in the morning. the point is that as the object in question will be installed on a boat, I thought it was important to include also the welding

in combination you can insert welding from insert > assembly function > welding cord.
but being welded parts you could consider them as the only multibody part (which already frames with structural elements are) and model your tube directly in the frame part by removing the tick to the option merge results. so you can use the normal cord of the menu Home present in the parts.
Since 2010 in the multibody, the cutting division also manages the bodies that are not structural elements.

I have the 2007 version. I tried to insert the tube directly into the part file but then when I choose insert welding it tells me that it is not possible to make welding between the flat face of the square profile and the side face of the pipe. I'll try it together in the morning!

I tried and not even together goes. He says the faces in contact don't intersect! I decided to do it in one part without cmq put the welds because it doesn't make me add them.

thanks to the answers
