Hello, I have a problem.
I would like to turn the center of an object (pivot) taking as reference the inclination of an object, for example if I create a trapeze I would like to rotate the pivot and align it with an oblique side of my figure... .
How can you do that?

I would like to align the green axis with the polygon side. . .
How do you do that?

I'd say you can't.
What exactly do you have to do? Why do you want to align the y axis to the side?
Maybe there's a latra way for what you want to do without aligning the pivot

thanks for the answer

I don't have to do anything specific was a curiosity that might serve me in the future,
For example if I have a cube and want to rotate it to make sure that one side is aligned with the direction of a line....I don't know how to do it. . .

there are various alternatives and no "immediate", always depends on situations.
1. You could download this script http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/3-point-align that adds a command to align objects based on three reference points for each object
2. in the example of the cube with a line, you have the cube, you have the line, apply an extrude modifier to the line so that the z of the line pivot is oriented of the alignment direction (breaking the line pivod with the angular snaps for example), then with the "normal align" command align the cube face to the line surface, then you can delete the extrude modifier

there may be other ways, but everything depends on the situation

to extrude the line to create a face and then align with normal align is a valid way, I had not really thought about it. . .

Thank you.

maybe you can with the align options, otherwise you could create a tilted object of the same angle of the side and use its pivot with pick! i.e. in theory the pivot in the center of gravity should have the same angle of one possible side and copying the pivot object you should succeed to conclude something.boh, maybe I remember badly, or do everything in autocad and amounts in 3ds. i.e. it is quicker amounts

try to rotate the pivot using even the angle snaps and percentages.

Also in the Pivot menu there are other items that you could activate and check.
if the result does not satisfy you just click on Pivot reset.

or build a square, then align it to the oblique side, always with the activated square go to the rotation tool in the bar, right click and you will see a window that allows you to rotate along the three axes the object, one of the values should indicate the rotation of the object impressed during the alignment.

Knowing the value of the corner, activate the pivots back to the original figure, rotate the pivot.. and with the snap tool take it wherever you want.

you have to use align to the view, object etc, from the drop-down menu in the main bar, not in the control panel!!! !or move the pivot gizmo, but I hope I've been clear.
