You have to put it in a folder where you have writing permissions. in program files I think you can write only if you are administrator, but normally workstation users are not.

The material folder is where *.mtl files reside, I keep it in a folder on the server.
customizations are a little scattered around, look at the image you posted and look for those files around your computer, in case you moved them.

@abroggian I recommend you recover the settings files from a backup (if you have it) and for the future place them in a less volatile place than the program folder (think when you make a version change). They are usually held together with templates.

I add that through the tool "wizard settings and preferences" you can create a single file that contains all customizations so that it is easy to use and to keep as a copy.

No, from a backup if you have it. is good practice (as well as a request from legislation in some areas) to back up important data, especially if you use them for work.

you need to move preferences out of the program folder, and put them on or on a network disk if you are in different to use solid edge or in a folder that you have access to as a normal user user user, not administrator (you should use windows with non-administrator user, and access as such only for software maintenance)
