problem communication between unigraphics and thinkdesign

Hello everyone,
I just arrived, fresh presentation.
I have my problem briefly: for a third-party job,I need to open files created with thinkdesign. the step format generated by thinkdesign does not allow me to view neither the colors nor the code, or at least we did not manage to make it work, and similarly if I provide step 214, they do not display colors and codes and everything is a unique body.
we tried with the parasolid format, so I can view the colors and for each component you generate a file, the problem is that the name of each file is different from the original, in practice nx renames it as he wants; I discovered that solid edge instead keeps the name; possible that solid edge, which belongs to the same family of ugs, has a better translator than nx?
the problem to someone might seem influential, but in fact not visulizzando the codes I can not understand if the file is a commercial object or not, and I can't understand if a same file appears perhaps in another set running the risk of making 1000 drawing instead of one.
Did any of you ever happen that?

If you have solidedge available, charge the parasolid on yourself and then fix it, maybe it's uin format more digestible to nx.

In fact, I find myself well with step214: at the time of export, a single file is generated, but during import it generates many files (how many are the files that make up the axieme) each with the correct code and also with the correct colors.

I currently use solid edge as an intermediate step (actually I do it by a colleague, but I don't know how much patience you can still have!!!).

As a personal experience I think that solid edge works best in importing files from other cads, for example during import from proe to nx I happened to find pieces out of place, while with solid edge it was ok, or other times nx crashed during conversion.Instead of the only problem found in importing from proe to solid edge were cylinders that increased radius respect the original.
I finally emphasize how in importing from step to nx I never had problems and the model has always been perfect....with great happiness of my colleague! !

I listened to your advice, and I went to 7.5 I had never done it; apparently everything worked, then I went to draft and just zoom + and then zoom - the image is not rebuilt. A disaster. Having a certified computer (hp8710w with fx1600m card) I wondered whether it was a program kiss and with a short internet search I discovered that it is a problem also happened to others (to you happened?? ) and I believe that siemens has released a version 7.5.1 (certainly to me they have not sent it). However not to wait for the gtac support I decided to install version 8 which apparently works well at least for what concerns modeling and drafting (I have not yet tried to convert a parasolid, as soon as I happen I let you know). a domandina: but in the 8 commands of the primitives (prisma cylinder cono etc etc etc. how do I reactivate them? I did not find them in any menu but I know that somewhere there are)

8 is a great version.
I also tell you that if you are in maintenance there is 8.0.2.
for the speech of primitives, perhaps you did not activate all the menus, through the 'rule'.

There are two updates, one is called maintenance release, the other is called maintenance pack (for which you find yourself having e.g. version 7.5.3.3)
usually siemens does not send neither dvd nor alerts.
registered on the site and downloaded updates.
when you download an update look at the problems that it solves and then decide whether to install it or not because, in my opinion, you do well to stay on a stable version.

I don't know how much you pay for maintenance, but don't believe that for those who use solid edge or solidworks or inventor, you pay less.
even if you pay €200 more a year, you have much more assistance than the one made by other cad dealers.
enrolling costs nothing and receive all the news.
the latest maintenance release (nx 8.0.2.2) is better than what you installed and I recommend it to you.
I normally personalize my interface starting from the full menu and removing some drapes of the assemblies, for the rest it suits me like this.

I confirm that even in version 8 there are no loading/setting options of a parasolid file, and the name is created as soon as it opens.
