problem with imported geometry

Hi, I'm at first with salome and I'm having different problems in the geometry environment of salome. what I should do is go to build a solid sphere with dug within it the geometry (imported) of an airplane, this will then be meshata for subsequent fluid dynamic analysis.
the problem is precisely the creation of the solid of the plane in question, although the geometry seems closed salome nn manages to recognize it as such (the one that looks like a single shell is seen as 7 shells plus laps); and going to explode in subshells several faces are lost leaving a new geometry "bucata".
none of the repair commands has been able to solve the problem.
thanks in advance of the help!

sometimes there are problems with very small edges, because salome imports in meters what had been modeled in mm (they are French, sometimes they get lost in the most trivial things! ).

First of all, as soon as the plane is imported, try to scale it 1000 times larger, and then try to repair the scaled geometry.

p.s. the imported file is recognized as solid if it amounts to a normal mechanical cad, a solidedge solidworks inventor etc?

I'm not really understanding where I'm wrong, same problems even with the scaled object, geometry is a set of faces, and the problem lies in the construction of the shell that the clusters all without holes, in the first/after shell command you still have a "compound" object with respectively:

face: 56 shell: 0 before

face:56 shell: 7 after

geometry is the following http://aaac.larc.nasa.gov/tsab/cfdlarc/aiaa-dpw/workshop2/dlr-f6-geom.html private motors

Sorry if I answer only now but I tried to work on it as much as possible to bring out something concrete, really thank you so much!! !

Right to understand, where was the catch? I would like to take a hand but their user guide is little more than useless:/

Hello hunter,

I wanted to ask you if you can import 3d drawing files made with inventor in caelinux environment, and then work with its applications

Hello hunter,

in native format is not possible, you must first export from inventor in iges or step format (preferable).

Bye.

thanks hunter,
Is it an operation that you can do directly with inventor?
once performed the file can be opened with templates?

Yes the conversion operation you do it in inventor. Once you have the step, open the geometry module of salome and do file-->import (at least I think it is so, I'm going to memory and I don't have salome under hand).

Bye.

Hello hunter,

now I have the file in step format, and I installed the caelinux, I was looking to find some tutorials to use this turn, I found a video on youtube and nothing else.
Do you know any guides to start using these programs?
