Hello everyone, abandoned the profession, I continued to draw with autocad for passion and hobbies.
I also became passionate about 3d printing and for this reason I bought a small machine from which to extract the electronics and build a great one to meet my modeling needs (w the authoriplicability of 3d printers).
For years now, I've been flying radio-controlled gliders.
I decided to design my prototype and build it.
I have succeeded and I believe it well, but if a designer is not stopped, he continues to improve what he did to approach as much as possible to perfection.
I decided to convert the 3d model I had made to build it in wood.
I wanted to perfect the fuselage line, but unfortunately the problems began.
for 10 days I visit forums and observe tutorials on you tube, which I try several commands but arrived at a certain point I can no longer proceed.
in the first project I got the fuselage from the revolution of a curved spline, I made it solid and emptied giving a thickness to the wall.
I never had problems, I went on until the end, then applied the attack of the wings (called karman) the directional rudder, that of depth, wings, etc.
finished model.
but the fuselage so conceived is not just as in reality, in fact the cross section is circular, while in reality (in correspondence of the cockpit) is ovoidal.
I have to make two shells, one lower (chill) and one higher equal in widths but a little higher.
therefore for each shell I have drawn a longitudinal axis along which I placed semi-ellips and (at the bow and in the tail) of the semi-circles.
I have combined the right ends of the semi-ellipses and semi-circles with a spline, same thing for the left ends and a third for the median points.
at this point I create a nurbs with the network command for every semi-guscio and so far, fantastic(!!!) everything ok.
At this point, they place the two shells on each other, I realize two very small surface patches on the bow and the stern and I combine everything in bolean.
I get a beautiful surface, and here the pains begin.
the convert to solid command does not work (but I tried on other less complex solids and it works).
Then I try the command to sculpt, but the program tells me that the volume is not watertight... (I can't find it, I try with other simpler solids and it works).
I then try with the surfoffset command, do the "freccettes", do all the parameters and or do nothing or the program plant.
I go back, to the two shells: to sculpt not to mention it, but surfoffset yes; I genero two solid semi-gusci (with thickness) but to join them in bolean does not talk about it: "inconsistance surface... "
I tried all the above commands also by making a right side and a left, without result.
I tried to traversely dissect the fuselage to try the same commands on the trunks, nothing.
I don't know what to do anymore.
While I apologize for my frenzy (I think I should explain to myself at best) I hope someone can be interested and help me.
