problems with imported files

I write you for a problem that has already happened to me but I never understood how to solve it allorea I asked if any of you have never happened.
a client gave me a math in pro/e but this math was not created with pro/e but also he imported it, the problem that is solid but when I go to copy of the edges to create curves to make the mold division or when I have already created the mold and I have to make some 0.3mm scrapping it does not tell me that the precisene is not good or overlap the surfaces. are several years that I work on imported mathematics from different software and modeled not exactly elegantly.
I had a good experience with the "import data doctor" module in the release 2001.
I now use wf3 obviously some improvement but the substance does not change.

Many times I've had "solid" imported files but with the most diverse problems.
I proceed like this:
first of all the "relative" accuracy of the part at most 0.0001
then you perform an info control geometry and examine the mathematical problems of the part.
Of course, the messages must be interpreted.
then proceed with the reset and closing of the open edges until you reach the editing of the individual edges of surface to cover the various "casini".
Sometimes some surfaces must be erased because they generate indefinite forms, sometimes you do first to radiate a edge to close it, sometimes you lose big days.
It's a job of experience and patience, but every case is if I should see math.
