Hello, everyone!

I am currently using vectorworks 10.0 on win platform, on a PC assembled and medium power (not a basic pc, but not even a workstation!)

now I would like to go to vw2010 on mac platform (I worked for a couple of months - always with vw10 - and I must say that the difference is and you see everything!) and create a post dedicated exclusively to design and renderingig 3d.

But being totally ignorant of the mac world and not having an unlimited budget, I would like to ask you if it is necessary to buy a macpro of the last generation from 3000 euro or if I can find something used-registered but that has enough characteristics to turn the last version of the vector with renderworks without problems.

I would like to stay under 1000 euros for the mac, but even something less would not suck me!

Thank you all!

the new imacs with intel core 2 duo at 3,06ghz are excellent. If then you could afford the model from 27" with intel core i5 to 2.66ghz then you would really be fine.
I don't think a used model is worth comparing with new models.
Forget the macpro: it's fine to make videos or post-production, but with vectorworks you wouldn't exploit them.

Hi.
I can rest assured you that in the study where I work we have mostly imac with intel processor from 20" and 24" and they are fine, of course equipped with a good dose of ram. I am now working in 3d with vectorworks 2010 on a macbook pro without any effort. I think you can avoid the mac pro that, as much as a big machine (I work there every day :-)), could represent an excessive expense... But you have to decide that.
I do.

I forgot, since you know little about the world mac I give you two tips: if you go on the usual intel processor and not ppc (the latter is too old and however vectorworks 2010 could not turn around).
if you go on the refurbished - on the apple store there is the link to the refurbished store - instead save and go on the safe. my current macbook pro I took it there and, for now, crossing fingers, does his duty:-)
I do.
