for internal procedures sometimes a script is launched that performs a periodic re-set of the catia v5 settings. this reset goes to delete/restore the original settings, also aliminating the customizations of the individual user.

that's why I need to know which file the keyboard's quick command settings are recorded.

breaking (good) the boxes to our cad-manager made me explain how it works from us.

catsettings management contains all custom settings for the user. so every customization I make is saved within these files.

to avoid corrupting catsettings (which can not be so difficult), we launch a re-set procedure.
Afterwards before returning to work, I immediately introduce customizations. In this way I have clean caskets. At this point, I save the folder and keep it aside.

as info, even if you as cad-manager already know, the file where the fast keyboard commands are recorded is: "framegeneral.catsettings".

You may have some anomalies because you recover a file with non + original settings.

I'm telling you this because we've had enough trouble and so we've decided on a radical solution:

1. whenever a user has problems must reinstall casettings. the settings he made before are lost.

2. If there are some interesting settings to be inserted in the starndar settings, it will be our concern to assess the improvement and release it.

so doing we manage over 30 different profiles of catsettings in three languages (German, French, English)

In my opinion if you take the catsetting "virgin" and start doing your personalizations you can save it as backup and then possibly in case of cases and resets you can restore not from scratch but at least from a point a little + forward and you can make various backup steps by calling them casettingr19_a bc etc. etc.
so much to spy to zero you always do in time......... I do this.
of course the problem is to the passage of version that then forces you (at least I do so) to remake the catsetting from scratch .................... :wink:

we have written an application called startcatia. with this application we manage the choice of the catsettings profile for a certain cv5 user department. I'll spend better.
if you work as a manufacturer you will have settings, different needs from a tool path programmer (nc).

clearly both work with the same product (cv5) but have different needs.
We've set them up and saved them in some sort of septical profiles. profile builder opputre profili nc.

when we launch the application the user must choose in the drop-down menu the catsettings profile he needs.

according to our experience between a servcepack and another could be improvements.

you usually have them independently of a released version.
rather make sure that for each version the catsettins profiles have been recreated again.

attention: the resumption of catsettings, for example of r16, and treated later in r17 is possible but not recommended! ! !better recreate them from scratch. for this reason I have taken the habit of documenting with magicians all the settings that I set for a profile so in the new version, within as admin, I unsubscribe my word document and seto all the necessary settings.
