Let's say that within a set you can place a part at a distance d1 from another. How do you do that?

unless you do a skeleton (I throw it there) the only way is to use offsets in constraints.

I don't understand that.
If by odds you mean the positioning distance between two parts, you've already responded: there's the constraints offset.
If you want "to see it is high, make a plan between the two sides, project 2 edges and put the quota.
If you do a sketch first, then you tie the parts, that share should command you the distance between the two sides.
But you have to turn off all the sketches of the parts together, but you're risking seeing those too.

I meant only the positioning distance. with the offset seems a bit limiting or maybe I have to learn better to use it

and use levels of detail?? It's cool, but you can do a lot of it if you need to see some location.
