reference scale of the retini

hi to everyone, I've been using for years autocad and I never understood one thing:
I design mainly road works in scale 1=1m, I have a problem, when I insert retinals or dashed lines I have to enter a ladder too low and sometimes not autocad I do not accept it.
example: I have to insert a retino whose scale, because it becomes me as I want, is 0.005, many times this scale is too small and I am obliged to put the minimum, for example 0.01.
I remember that there was the possibility to change scale to the drawing, always drawing 1=1m however for the retini and restraints put 5 instead of 0.005.
the problem is that I don't remember + how to do it, the command was xscale or something like that.. .

the maxhatch that has indicated you tristan, serves to increase the allocation that autocad from the retini, allowing to have a greater density.

What you're probably looking for is the status of variable measurement

measurement = 0 - scale restraints and line types in imperial units (the thumb to understand us)
measurement = 1 - scale restraints and line types in units' metrics.

the change of variable measurement does not affect the drawings already made and does not affect the retini already made within the same design, so changing it you can get what you want, but from this moment on.
