good evening, in the company always use the "reference set" but I have not yet understood it, in pro-e and catia v5 there was nothing like that, someone can spend two lines on the topic? Thank you very much.

synthesizing in a very extreme way you can associate ref.sets with a kind of filter that allows you to activate or not objects within your partfile, or partfile within a set .
also marks the recurrence of the command on the subassiemi .
so I can have just to make a typical example of the world print a "falsa" geometry that I need to create by boolean subtraction the seat of a screw .
when active through the ref sets the fake option are shown to video only the false geometries of that axieme or partfile being able without margin of error select exactly what I need .

ban on jokes, the reference set has a lot of implications and relationships with many aspects of modeling together. for this I strongly recommend that you explain and show it (which as ip_design says is easier) by those who know how to use it. in particular the relationship that has with the partial loading of load options and wave. I know that they are hostical words and concepts maybe new but if you do not know them in depth risks to you so much but so bad.

the reference set is of enormous help in assembly . from the simple distinction of two geometries object / seat in the same file , to the representation of different aspects in different areas, for complex together . not know, of a set you can need to represent the total of the finite elements, as you may need to draw them with reference spheres of reference or integrated with brackets
create the set you prefer and select what you want to include in the display

my humble advice, do not use reference sets. model for parts and entire part for assembly.
