normally this error is reported when an element (also "linked" with other elements, through logical operators) determines a "loop" (circular reference) that does not have/from result.
In practice, starting from a certain value, I can define a "relation" to determine the value (certain) of the unknown. if the determination of the "certain value" in relation to the unknown, then the "chain of circular references" is formed.
example:
correct references
♪
b= 2a
c= 3b
circular reference chain (not correct)
a = 1/6
b=2a
C=3b
determines a "loop" without logical solution

I thank you for the clarification but I do not understand how to overcome this inconvenience in revit. having to make an extrusion on path, after selecting the path (spigoli) and the profile to be extruded gives me the message as above: "a chain of circular references has been defined among the highlighted elements." I must if anything give up a complete path and use edge after edge.
