rename files automatically

Good morning, everyone.
I received a folder of solidworks parts and assemblies to put into production but our management handles files differently from how they were called by the design studio.
the files are about 2600 and they are all in a folder. the original file is called asta-500.sldprt where auction is the name and 500 format.
the management accepts, for the import of the anagraphies, auction [500].sldprt with space and square brackets.
I tried with the usual ren commands*???* etc but without results.
I searched on google but as always you find the commands to rename in a massive way but puts the name all the same and adds a sequential number to each file, so it is not useful.
Can someone help me not to waste hours rename everything by hand?
if there are solutions with linux (which seems more powerful for these things... but I know little) are welcome.

with the solidworks pack&go you could replace "-500" with " [500]" on all files. depends on which and how many equal celebrations there are.
 
great idea but it seemed to me that you could add a prefix and a suffix not replace. . but I go to mind because the solidworks is in the office until Monday.
I would have the same problem with a dos command anyway?
 
I can't tell you about the dos, but with the pack&go I'm sure you can also replace it.
 
bulk renamer does what you need, but then definitely solidworks assemblies will no longer find their children.

I have developed several applications to rename files according to multiple needs.

I try with the pack&go which is the cleanest solution. In fact, even if the axioms are about ten general and subaxial groups it is not that it is very convenient to realign all references.

good morning jenuary,I take advantage of the discussion to ask you an opinion: from about a year we introduced the standard pdm of solidworks the files before were managed only with file name composed of code+description, now I would have the need (after having already migrated practically all the server on pdm) to rename in a massive way all the files with the only code.

Hi.
in the company we work with the pdm enterprise of solidworks, but I think the same goes for the standard version, and rename the files directly from explore resources there is no need to modify the references of the files in the assemblies and drawings.

hi, ok on the fact that the references are not lost I am sure of it, my problem will be to manually rename thousands of files and for this I need an automatism or an underpaid intern :)

It's an access mask, which has nothing to do with exploring resources, in which I visualize the pdm folders and files recovered with bees. also the rename function of the file is done via bees.
Solidworks pdm display is integrated into explore resources.

the name of the new file is created according to a rule (in the example I added "-try") then you can put the selection spuns automatically, process a whole folder or all the vault.
the example of the video I did it in an hour and does not claim to be an application. the same code can be copied within a macro of solidworks, always of vba it is.
I confirm that the pdm uses file ids for all links.

if you make yourself do projects from external studies habitually, it is advisable that you place your "rules", for file encoding, properties to assign, templates, templates, styles, fonts etc.

do p&g by assembling with thousands of files, is wanting to get hurt :) .
then, if the part of the code to change is the same, equal for all files, then you can do it in one shot only with the rename (but always so long it takes us to open a p&g with thousands of voices). Otherwise you will have to rename them by hand one by one or, at least, for groups that have that same post.
