Good morning to all,
I should make a rendering of a stainless steel tank but the final result seems very unreal because the sheet is too perfect then reflections and various stuff do not notice, how can you do to have that minimum of "curvature" to make it more realistic possible?

I don't think you gave the "material" to the bathtub...
add brushed chrome material or even brushed titanium.
Unfortunately, stainless steel is one of the most difficult materials to make, scenography, lights, amount of reflections and bunpers must follow a common path... to have a decent image it takes several (hours...) tests.

look at the piston of this render:

If you send the file, I'll try to do something.
you can have good results even with autocad if you dismantle the settings well.

hello xxfast thanks for your availability the second you did it with autocad? Sincerely I'm trying with keyshot that you say? but there is always the problem of the sheets too perfect.

Yeah, with autocad, but it's still getting better.
as mike told you, it takes several hours and various tests to get the desired result.
according to me, you can do it with all the software, sw, autocad and also keys. Try it once. It's great.

thank you guys for days I try, now I'm training you a .sat file
I managed to get such a result in 5 minutes making changes to existing materials in the solidworks library... I took the stainless steel treadplate I changed the surface finishing by putting to machine then the mapping to 450, the gray which gives the main color a little lighter, added a directional light above the tub... I don't know if it's good for you as a result. . .

sembra verniciato lucido.

hi mike, I wanted to ask you a question: I took a look at the pictures of your gallery and I like them a lot, that render engine uses?
I have photoview360 and I am in front of a crossroads: first I rendered with yafaray (open source) exporting in .obj drawings made with rhino. Now this format can't get it with sw and second question is this: it's the case of studying better pv360 because maybe I'm not exploiting it well or should I find the way to create a suitable format for yr?

Thank you, simone

Hi, simone.
thanks for the praises, but the renderings I published are nothing:redface:... I enjoy killing time in winter evenings. . .
anyway I added in the caption the program used for rendering.
pw360 has a lot of luxology mode (the latter is really powerful) but there is known to get symil-realistic images.
the setting, shadows, lights, bumps and thousand thousand other parameters must be
"equalize" appropriately if not unimaginable craps come out.
the first renders I ran them with rhino 1.1 and the various compatible engines.
I like keyshot... but I have no time to deepen knowledge.
Unfortunately I have been having little time lately and I gave up a bit of the aesthetic "contour" of the cad design, but the winter approaches and once hung the bike in the garage in the evening I will recover to unleash. . maybe with the 2013 version.. .

Okay, thank you very much. I think I will deepen pv360 and maybe show you something:smile:
