within the report window I need to run some instructions if a date is present in the directory. I tried to use the "exists" instruction in the following way but it seems to work only with quotas, parameters etc.

coming to the point I do not think that you can set relationships in a part with elements not subordinate to the creation of the part itself... I don't know if I understand well but this directory you mean is not subordinate to the creation of the part.
that is, relations should serve to "report" elements of a part itself, therefore subordinate, i.e. bonds feautures quotas etc... and not external elements
If you try to detail better what you want I can try to tell you how to do

Pro/program use to automate some parts and assemblies. in a set I create parameters starting from the inputs of pro/program that represent the names of some parts my set that is built and placed according to the values provided.
can happen, given the various configurations and possible combinations, that the parameters created refer to parts and/or non-existent sub-assistances in the work directory. when this happens pro/program aborts and restores the values of the initial parameters. I would like this not to happen by inserting into the relationships that build the names of the components to assemble the control of existence or not of the component (typically instances of various family table). so far I can only do a back text control within the .idx file.

p.s. all I need to automatically generate enough complex assemblies by means of pro/program. pro/program manages a whole series of parameters that are passed by a text file generated in excel (where I can exploit the enormous power and variety of functions of the sheet), through appropriate relationships create the names of the necessary components that position and/or replaces at the right place and at the appropriate time speeding up the creation of the models that interest me.

Hello animated,
really interesting this work of configuration with pro/program, I tried and sincerely find it rather difficult because it previews a preparation of the model together to manage really done well, and this objective is not always possible.....with consequent errors due to suppressions by pro/program.

I think that the best road remains the simplified representation that now with creo 2 has become very efficient, allowing a good configuration of the various products with a certain simplicity and celerity.
