I used solidworks (2008 version) and it was planted, much more than inventor.
But I must say that with sw I made superficial modeling quite heavy (coniatura sprints with sforms etc.) while with inventor I make very vulgar mechanical details without minimally using neither loft, nor sweep, nor surfaces.
