Hello guys I want to propose you my problem: I have a set of details that I want to save in another folder with the same names or other similar kind with prefix or suffix... What's the problem? that when I open the set in the new folder and I go to open the single detail send me back to the old folder! then I did save everything with new references and specifying the new folder but I couldn't fix it.. Where am I wrong? p.s. I have solidworks sp4.

I didn't know what technique you used to copy/save those files..

you tried doing a thing Pack & go from the assist? you can add pre or suffix (or change names one by one if you want), transfer everything to a specially created folder and the files recalled by the "new" together should repeat them all from there without problems.

I also did so, so I opened the axieme and did as you tell me but the result is that in the new folder only saves the file of together and not the individual files of details. Where am I wrong? when I open the new file together in the new folder and then decide to open one of the details in it, solidworks opens me the file but in the old folder. . .

Then, it should be clear that the file of the group is inserted in the location of the files that compose it. If saved as a simple copy, the references will not be changed, because you do not know that of the other files there is a corresponding copy. for this never copy via explore resources if not for backup reasons.

the save as a copy in solidworks does nothing but save the same file with the same references with another name, but not update the reference in the assieme father.

the correct ways to copy a set are as follows;
1) use solidworks explorer and use the pack and go function, where you can also add an automatic prefix/suffix to all files and/or rename the individual parts/axis copied while keeping the references updated in details/axis that refer to it.
2) in explore windows resources, dx key, solidworks menu, pack and go, see above
3) in solidworks, file\find references\copy file and you are still in a screen equal to that of the pack and go.

the way incorrect to copy a set is as follows:
1) copy all the assist and details to another folder
2) rename the original folder so that it can no longer be found by the axieme
3) open the copied axieme and tell him from time to time where to find the files that he no longer finds (many times once indicated the first of a folder then find the others)
4) rename the original folder to the original name.

in this way you risk that some files are not synchronized, as some references of individual parts are not updated.

It also happens that both pack and go and copy some files (derived parts, offset of surfaces in the context) go to pallino the references and the new compost still in the old. That's why I sometimes packandgo and rename folder, then open the new set and rebuild it, especially the subassiemi and the derived parts, to find out if any references were left behind.
