Hello, I am creating a new family in revit and specifically a sliding door to its symmetric front, one right and the other left.
My problem is as follows: how do I make a shaped shank inside the wall of less thickness than the thickness of the wall?. I tried with the opening command but the result obtained is not what I want. I expect news about it. Thank you.

What do you mean by "shape in the wall"?
- the opening in the wall, where to insert the door?
- the interior space on the wall, where are the doors of the door open?
- a "any" compartment to be obtained in the thickness of the wall?
in the first two cases, the "squarcio" you must get it directly into the family of the door (built on wall host) by means of blanks/solids of subtraction in the (host) wall, with relative parameters.
in the third case uses a family of "empty" on (host) wall, with relative parameters.

Good morning, for "shaped squarcio inside the wall" I mean the interior space to the wall where the doors of the door flow in an open position.
as from your advice, I tried to make solids/empties of subtraction directly in the family, but the vacuum (squarcio) cuts me also the solid door.

thanks, I try to use that present in the 2nd link, it is already a remarkable starting point, regarding customization me the cable. Good job

I finally managed to solve the problem related to the "squarcio" wall cut inside which the two doors of a sliding door must flow when it was in an open position. the program made a mistake when I went to create a "empty extrusion" and then I went to cut with "cut geometry". I have so operated:
- I deleted the "open" vacuum that by default we find in the basic family file
- I created a "empty union" according to my personal profile
- I cut the geometry of the solid "empty union" compared to the host wall
and the game is done.
I don't know if I used a slightly long and twisted strategy, however, it is, the family also works with various sizes.
Good job

Is there a way to put the "resolute"?

I have the same problem but I can't fix the 3rd step.

I started from the generic metric door family, I created all the necessary parameters for the sliding door, including the vacuum (extrusion). I deleted the default wall opening but I can't do the vacuum subtraction from the wall host.

to subtract the vacuum from the host wall, I used the following method:
- on "modify" scheme select the "cut geometry" command
- select the "empty"
- select the "muro host".
try like this and see if it works.

the problem is that as soon as the command drives the geometry the vacuum can no longer select it, as if it were invisible. cmq I solved creating a solid of subtraction - union.
