Good afternoon to all,
I'm new to the forum, even if I've been following it for a while.
Then I will explain immediately what the reason for this discussion is.
I am a civil engineer, and for some time I am using ubuntu within my pc, in conjunction with w.
I was looking slowly to bring part of my professional activities, so structural modeling, from classic computational software gui, to something free, but equally powerful and I came across an article in which we talked about salomè and code_aster.
I wanted to ask you first if there was a possibility to use these software for normal civil design, or are more oriented to a mechanical design.
Has anyone ever used them to make plans of buildings or things relevant for example to introduce to the civil genius?
Then I wanted to ask for confirmation of something.
I installed the version of ubuntu 12.04 on my 32bit laptop, is it true that these programs only run on ubuntu 10.04?
Thank you all so far.
