I'm in trouble with nx 7.5.
is it possible to insert a section line on a broken view?

in drafting (if you speak of broken view maybe you refer to that) the answer is ni (i.e. not with the broken view but you can do ...)

in modeling (but I don't think it was the subject of the question ...) are in the dynamic sections that many around call mistakenly broken views yes!

I think you're referring to the first case (drafting)!

see attached pictures. . .

Good.
the guide I think I read it several times but I did not find directions.
on google I tried and re-searched but nothing to do. :mixed:

I am pleased that there are those who with tricks can do what I asked, but I believe that it is in the spirit of this forum I do not say explain for thread and sign how to get there, but at least give some indication of maximum.

I am also pleased that nx8 is able to do this, but I am not going to migrate 15 designers from 7.5 to 8 after I took months to digest 7.5

Hi.
It's a trick I learned years ago from a client: you make two identical views and break with the manual boundary.
I agree with you that it is difficult to pass, in a reality like yours, designers to the higher versions, I am using the 8 from a month and I am finding myself very well as stability and speed. have greatly improved the constraint assembly and it is worth going to 8 only for this.:finger:

practically is what I did on the first image;

run the section on the view that interests you:

select the view --> go to expand --> pull a spline --> exit from the expand
and change the boundary of the view by selecting the spline.

then make an identical view... do the same thing that I did over in the first sight..

and approach her a little...

He's always been like this... everywhere I've been!

I'm sorry if I didn't answer you in detail right away... I wanted... but an unexpected happened:tongue:

Thanks cesare and corrado, now the thing is clearer.
The acrocchio is acceptable, the only neo is to quote the length of the piece, right?

cesare, what struck you more as an improvement of constraint assembly?

the share of the piece remains correct, the measure is in fact on two points of the model and those do not change.
for the constraint assemblies of the 8 have made a nice navigator with which you manage well the assembly, there is no more confusion than before.

Hi.
I completely agree with the constraint assemblies of nx8, I am using it and I find it is fast, stable, new functions even if you have a bundle mach 0(I mention some: conical blend edge, extrac "u-v" associative curves) and previous functions but far improved.... in short a nice step forward we hope continue on this road....

nx7,5: with tricks.
nx8: yes
I resume this discussion to highlight a small problem with sections on broken views in nx8.
the section is done but does not appear (better disappears just after insertion) the section line on the view.
the problem is known and siemens has more or less responded that the section line you could also show just that there are no regulations about it so you do not know how to represent it.
Does anyone have any ideas about it or any suggestions?
thanks to all

You're right and I'll score it, too.
the problem is that it is also present in later versions.
mark it because even the section is not mentioned in the drawing norms.
This does not mean that it is not contemplated.
I also regret the approach, the section I do it to you but I don't see the lines.
If for you it is not contemplated in the design norm, everything to check, you do not give me the chance to do the section.
Moreover, as they think they are rigorous, why not support the aligned section and not with circle arches?
and yet in the rules it is contemplated.
I report to the support immediately and carry back what is described here.
Let us hear.

product: nx
subject: section lines disappear creating a view break section view (and vice versa)

submitted by: benjamin broad submitted date: 08/24/2012
ir #: 6765122 document id: 001-6765122
platform: all supported operating system: n/a
os version: n/a product version: nx v8 and higher

===============================================================================

hardware/software configuration
-------------------------------
all supported platforms
unigraphcs nx v8.0 and higher

symptom/problem
---------------
section line disappears creating a section view of a view with a view break
(and vice versa).

when creating a section view, of a view that has a view break, the section
line becomes hidden. information on the section line (found in the part
navigator) reveals that it is on layer 257. during the creation of the
section view a message is raised reporting "the view break will result in
hidden annotations".

if you create subsequent section views of the same view break view the same
behavior is observed. therefore, you have section views on your drawing but
no section lines.

similarly, if you create a section view of a standard view and then insert a
view break in the standard view, the section line of the previously created
section view disappears (placed on layer 257). during the creation of the
view break a message is raised reporting "the view break will result in hidden
annotations".

solution/workaround
-------------------
this problem was reported in pr 6719220 and closed as er with the following
explanation from development:

nx cannot draw a section line on a view break view because of the gap between
the view piece (created by the view break). a small project will be required
to resolve this issue, hence this pr has been converted to an er.

workaround:
------------
enable the legacy broken view functionality.

you can turn this on by selecting "tools > customize", selecting the commands
tab, expanding the "[+]insert" category and selecting the "view" sub-category.
the list of commands on the right of the dialog will include "broken
(legacy)".
drag "broken (legacy)" to an existing toolbar/menu and it will add the legacy
broken view command as a new icon/menu entry to that toolbar/menu. close the
customize dialog and select the new broken view icon/menu to launch the legacy
broken view command and create the broken view.

note: although it is possible to insert a section view using "section line
only" and the section line remains on the drawing sheet, updating the drawing
causes the section line to disappear.

the problem has been solved.
I'm using 8.0.3.4 mp4.
