Good morning. . .
I need your help... on how to proceed on a separate cutting material of solidworks.. .
I have this multibody part (example) so composed:
a first component is a 50x10 plate with 100 mm length...
the second component is a 25x5 plate with a length of 75 mm...
the third component is a 15-inch (extrusion) length of 60 mm upward and one (extrusion) length of 5 mm down...
when I go to complete the propitiaties of the three components for the first two dishes there is no problem... That is, I put in the description, dish. select the first dimension of the sketch that is in the first component is 50, digit "x", select the second dimension of the sketch that is 10, type "x", and finally select the value of the extrusion... in my cutting table will appear the description "piatto 50x10x100 and so far everything ok.
the problem arises in the third component, when I go to select the value of the extrusion.
I have the possibility to select the value of the first i.e. 60 mm, or the value of the second that is 5 mm... what I would like to know from you and if there is the possibility to insert the total of the two extrusions without inserting it directly (65) as if one tomorrow I go to change one of the two extrusions the table can be updated automatically. . I hope I've been quite clear. . .
Thank you from now on for your precious answers...:finger::finger::finger:
ps: I also tried to do research in other similar discussions but I found nothing to do with my case...

sincerely I can't answer the question but if you create a 5mm plan lower than the sketch and extrude 65mm you solved all your problems! :finger:

thanks for the answer bendingtoresolidworks... but to tell the truth this solution I knew it too, along with others who came to mind while writing this post... what I wanted to know was not the classic fuss (as I call it to bypass the problem) but if someone of you (sirly more experienced than me) knows perhaps the possibility to tie the total length of the two extrusions, with a formula, that allows me to see in distinct the total length... That's all.

If you don't want to make a unique extrusion, you can add an equation that matches the two odds and then you'll join the property "length" to that equation.
see the attached file if it suits you otherwise nothing else comes to mind, you have to wait for other ideas.

if you plan with the structural elements "saving" avoid this problem.

mike's answer is in my opinion the best. Multibody offers maximum yield when using structural members.
alternatively to the creation of a 5 mm offset plan it would be enough to extrude from a 5 offset from the sketch plane (first option of the extruded command) and opi to give 70. another alternative was to extrude squirting the side and not the section.

I put in the description, dish. select the first dimension of the sketch that is in the first component is 50, digit "x", select the second dimension of the sketch that is 10, type "x", and finally select the value of the extrusion... in my cutting table will appear the description "50x10x100 plate
Excuse the intrusion... how do I select the size from the sketch as written by bullet? and from this measure can I add a quota so that it displays a greater measure than the original one?

I had put a new discussion without any feedback:

I know you're busy.
Good job! !
