Hello.
I am using proe wildfire2. I have the problem that every time I create a new part I have the length set on inch. so I have to go on units and change in mks.
I wanted to know there is a way to set the measurements directly on mks already from startup?
I tried to change from options the parameters proe_unit_lenght, proe_unit_lenght and proe_unit_sys but after application I always set everything on inch/libbre... .
Thank you.

and no ... you must have a config.pro file in the starting directory.
Also for the new parts you have to have a start part with the measuring units set correctly.

I would also be interested in the subject because as a good soma ciuchino I have to keep my head down and work without being able to interest in the customization of the working environment, instead I would be comfortable and maybe more productive if I created my own personal configuration.
How do you create a star part that proe automatically takes to every new part?
Thank you.

I have the same problem, whenever I make a new project I have to set the unit of measurement (modification>set).
while looking in the forum I did not find any disappointments on the config.pro. Can you explain to me what it is and how it works? I in the main directory of pro-and did not find it, do you have to create it? If yes, what should I write to us? There's only one config.win opening my program and nothing else.
thanks for the attention,
mv

but have you just started using pro/e?
because usually these are the very first things that are explained to those who start using the program.
However the topic config.pro and start part have been treated endless times in the forum, if you use the search function you should find both different config and different start part.

by summing up:
pro/e when it is installed (other than the wf5 which now provides for the choice of the measuring system during installation) uses the Anglo-Saxon units by default.
and also has a number of start-ups included in the program with different units of measurement.
let's say that first you have to set the following options:

pro_unit_length=unit_mm
pro_unit_mass=gram (or kg if you prefer)

and save everything in the config.pro

the config.pro must be placed in the starting directory of pro/e.

Yes, it is recently (September) that I use pro/e and began to use it without knowing the basics of setting... with advanced research I had not found much on the topic config, probably for little accuracy in research, I ask vein.
I take advantage of your kindness to ask: where do I set the options you mention? in the starting directory I have a config.win instead of .pro
Thank you in advance,
mv

when you go to the tool menu>options, a dialog appears as from the attached image.
click on the save icon, attach the config.pro name and choose as a file save directory, the pro/e starting directory.

I did the procedure, opened the tool menu and added pro_lenght and pro_mass, placing them with metric units. .
but when I open a file, and try to go to change -> set _> drive, the file still seems set on Anglo-Saxon units :(
English curses:

if the file has been done with the Anglo-Saxon units, you cannot expect the program to edit all the files present in the archive.
the new units set will serve for the creation of new parts or assemblies.
to change the file units already realized previously you can create a macro to speed up the process.

I'm sorry, I just mean when I create a new file, not when I open an existing one. .
if I go to the tool->options menu, the correct settings appear to me, but if I check by set drive tells me that they are still in inches. .
:

from the trail file tells me this
~ activate `new` `ok`
!command procmdmodelnewexe was pushed from the software.
!20-oct-10 23:59:48 start c:\programmi\proewildfire 4.0\templates\inlbs_part_solid.prt
!20-oct-10 23:59:48 end c:\programmi\proewildfire 4.0\templates\inlbs_part_solid.prt
!20-oct-10 23:59:48 start c:\documents and settings\cikho\documenti\proe lancio\prt0001.prt.1
!20-oct-10 23:59:48 end c:\documents and settings\cikho\documenti\proe lancio\prt0001.prt.1
!%civerrà usato il default c:\programmi\proewildfire 4.0\templates\inlbs_part_solid.prt come maschera.
Is it possible that you open a file in Anglo-Saxon default? How did I impose this?

This depends on the fact that you probably use a wrong start part.
when you create a new part, you have to use a model with the correct units.
in this regard you have to make sure that the following config options:

template_solidpart
template_designasm
template_drawing

dot to files with the correct drives.

Now it works!

Thank you very much:
